Blue Soul Groove is a ‘Smooth Jazz/ Groove’ project from Edinburgh, Scotland. Formed by guitarist Neil Warden and features John Burgess on alto, tenor, soprano saxes and flute and guest musicians from Scottish Jazz.

Blue Soul Groove are influenced by the 60's, 70's and 80's 'jazz-funk' greats: Grover Washington, George Benson, David Sanborn, Ronnie Laws, Grant Green, The Crusaders, along with newer European bands such as Down To The Bone, St Germain, and Incognito (to name a few).

Neil Warden is best known for his work with Scotland’s premier blues and jazz singer Tam White (aka. Clan Chief MacGregor in ‘Braveheart’). Neil recorded 5 Cds and appeared in several BBC documentaries with Tam. He also worked with Bad Company/King Crimson bass player Boz Burrell in ‘The Groove Connection’. Neil has been actively involved playing at festivals with many other Scottish artists, recording soundtrack music, writing original music and performing with community projects.

John Burgess, a Berklee graduate performs on alto, tenor, soprano saxes and flute. John is active in the European Jazz circuit having recorded 5 ‘solo’ CDs of contemporary Jazz. He has also toured in Europe, USA and Canada. John has played and recorded with Alan Skidmore, Harry Becket, Jim Mullen, Barry Guy, Maggie Nichols, Jerry Underwood, Elton Dean, Gunter Sommer, Walter Prati, Stan Sultzman, Chris Biscoe, Liam Noble, Tony Marsh, Mark Sanders, Fred Frith,
Claude Deppa, Ed Jones, Isobel Campell and Dave Cliff.
