Francesca’s journey to becoming a DJ started out as a hobby in college, one that quickly escalated into her career. “I had no intention of becoming a DJ” she says, “I simply got into mixing because I was a club kid, who developed an addiction to house music. I got my turntables so I could make mixed tapes of this music I loved, which back then was only available on vinyl.” She spent several years behind the turntables, playing at home for fun before she ever played out at a club. This enabled her to develop her mixing skills to a level that now gains her respect. Her dream was to spin at a club just once. A dream that came true in July of 1999 when she spun her first gig for a well known party called Kerfew. “It was the most amazing and surreal experience ever” is how she recalls it. It was there in that moment that Francesca knew this was something she had to pursue.
Nine years later her extreme determination, unique mixing ability, and infectious energy has earned her guest spots at such NYC clubs as Centro-fly, Speed, Aria, Twirl, OHM, Stonewall, China Club, Happy Valley and Ice Palace, that’s just to name a few. She has held residencies at Escuelita, Cheetah, and for SheScape and Lovergirl, which are NYC biggest female parties. Her passion for music has taken her to Philadelphia, Texas, and Florida where she received rave revues in 2002 at the prestigious White Party. In 2003 and 2004 she hosted and mixed on her weekly Internet show “Francesca’s Fever” on www.downshiftradio.com. Anyone who hears Francesca spin instantly falls in love with her. She plays a wide variety of music and doesn’t like to narrow her selection to any one genre. She’ll bring together deep, soulful, tribal, and progressive house sounds to build the energy on the dance floor.
Presently DJ Francesca is working hard to accomplish bigger goals reaching far beyond the turntables. When Francesca is not making people dance, she’s hard at work in the studio working on remixes as well as original productions. She is currently working on her first album, which will consist of original house tracks ranging from soulful groovy house to progressive tribal beats.
